Position Summary

Reporting directly to the Plant manager, the Maintenance manager is responsible for overseeing the maintenance operations to ensure the smooth and efficient functioning of the facility. This key role leads a team of maintenance technicians in assuring the highest standards of safety, reliability, and quality within our production environment. Working closely with corporate technical resources, this individual assumes a leadership role by offering guidance and technical expertise to technicians, ensuring their active participation and ongoing professional development.

Responsibilities

  • Promote a culture of occupational health and safety within the company by supporting and training maintenance personnel;
  • Coach, support and evaluate the maintenance team in the achievement of their annual objectives and in the execution of their daily tasks;
  • Work with team leaders, the maintenance planner and the shopper to coordinate priorities and improve response times for daily activities;
  • Systematically communicate performance issues to team members and management;
  • Participate in the development of the maintenance budget and ensure that financial resources are used effectively to achieve objectives;
  • Identify and prioritize major maintenance issues with production. Initiate and develop action plans to resolve these issues in collaboration with line production managers;
  • Work closely with the engineering to implement improvement projects according to set deadlines; 
  • Ensure compliance with good manufacturing practices, chemical management (food vs. non-food) and management of high-risk maintenance work;
  • Promote a positive work environment through communication and teamwork.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial or a related Engineering field or equivalent work experience;
  • Have 8 + years of relevant experience combining technical and management experience, preferably in a food manufacturing / fast pace environment;
  • Strong interpersonal and written communication skills;
  • Excellent organizational and prioritization skills;
  • Excellent people management skills, strong ethics and results orientation;
  • Good knowledge of the English language;
  • Computer skills: SAP (asset) & Microsoft Office.
